MIMIC Fuels Networld+Interop Demos:
SNMP Agent Simulation Eases Trade Show Burden

Las Vegas, NV - May 8, 2000 - Under the cover of hype and glitz of the
NetWorld+Interop trade show this week is a powerful tool that enables
vendors to demonstrate their network hardware and software without the
associated cost and stress of normal trade show demos - the MIMIC(tm)
SNMP Agent Simulator.  MIMIC, by Gambit Communications, allows vendors
to show specific capabilities of their products while lowering their
trade show costs, including demo hardware costs, shipping, and personnel.

MIMIC - Gambit booth 8023 - has the ability to record, compile, and
simulate up to 10,000 SNMP-based devices from one platform - providing
vendors with a silver bullet to solving the network trade show dilemma -
how to properly demonstrate corporate-scale products in an area the size
of a trade show booth.

MIMIC version 4.30, announced today, includes the following new features:

* Topology wizard - allows users to easily reconfigure networks
graphically by creating new topologies with interconnections between
devices.  Enables changing, copying, moving of an existing network or
a recorded network. 

* Framework to support any protocol over TCP/UDP - extends MIMIC's
capabilities beyond the SNMP protocol to more closely simulate real-life
scenarios.  Users can add any protocol they want as part of the simulated
device. 

* DHCP support - simulates DHCP clients, allowing users to test the
management of resources with changing IP addresses 

* TFTP support - allows the testing of TFTP server scalability and
improves the realism of the simulated environment 

* Support for 10,000 devices - increases the number of agents that can
be simulated per workstation, which eases scalability testing and adds
flexibility to development, testing, and demo environments
